→ FY 2022 (33rd) Activity Grant Presentation Ceremony
FY 2023, The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation provided a grant of 39,990 thousand yen.
There are many types of bird protection efforts, such as improving the environment, protecting injured birds, and preserving breeding grounds. All of them have in common that it takes time to produce results and that many people need to cooperate. Planning, executing, and reporting the results of activities—continuing this process is of paramount importance in bird conservation, and today, various groups face birds day and night. This year marks the 34th year of The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation. From 2022, in order to further expand the circle of support for bird conservation activities carried out by overseas groups, we will start subsidizing them on the condition that they apply through groups in Japan. We will support wild bird protection and survey activities.
On April 17, 2023, the activity subsidy presentation ceremony of The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation was held at Tokyo GAKUSHIKAIKAN both in person and online.
After the introduction of the Steering Committee, the activity presentation ceremony was held by Shigeaki Kazama, Executive Officer of Suntory Holdings Limited, Keiichi Nakazawa, Director of Wildlife Division, Nature Conservation Bureau, Ministry of the Environment, and Zuiten Tsukamoto, Chairman of the Steering Committee.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming to the presentation ceremony of The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation. Congratulations to all the organizations that will receive the 2023 grant. I am very happy that this year's presentation ceremony was held online from the venue and held with many people. In fiscal 2023, we have decided to support various wild bird conservation activities, including overseas grant organizations, and we hope and hope that bird conservation activities will make even greater strides. Suntory will continue to protect and nurture the diverse and healthy nature for humans and many other living things through the Bird Fund.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation and to all of the groups that receive grants for their ongoing efforts in promoting natural environment administration. In December of last year, a new global biodiversity goal, Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, was agreed upon. In order to achieve the new global goals, we are required to make our daily lives "nature positive". For example, working on production activities that take biodiversity into consideration, or deepening understanding of biodiversity and participating in activities. We are confident that your activities, through wild birds, will help make your daily life more nature positive. I would also like to express my heartfelt respect to Suntory Holdings Ltd., which has supported bird conservation activities for over 30 years.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all those who were eligible for the 2023 grant. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the guests, trustees, and trustees who took time out of their busy schedules to attend this presentation ceremony, as well as to all those who worked hard to prepare for the ceremony. . thank you very much. After enthusiastic discussions at the Steering Committee, we decided to provide a total of 22 projects of 39,990 thousand yen this year. We hope that our support will be of some help to your activities. And I'm sure you'll get great results. The Suntory Fund for Bird Conservation will continue to work closely with all of you through supporting bird conservation activities to protect the natural environment of Japan and the world.
